Conch Republic Divers & Scubaocity Story

It was nearly 20 years ago when Gary and Brenda Mace purchased Conch Republic Divers dive shop in Tavernier, Florida. Known as the friendliest dive shop in the Keys, it also was one of the busiest. With several boats in their fleet taking out dive groups 7 days a week, it didn't take long for Gary to realize he needed software to help him keep track of the multitudes of reservations.

His original goal was to create something that they could use to track their reservations, whether they were at the dive shop or not, so he knew it had to be online. Finding that proved to be an impossible challenge, so he did what any good captain would do and started to write his own software.

"It took some time and some outside programming help but we were able to get a working product within a year, and in 2006, we brought on Dive British Virgin Islands, our first customer to use Scubaocity outside of Conch Republic Divers.  It was very exciting as we knew we had a unique product that could benefit a lot of charter companies."

And what started out as a means to see their schedule from anywhere has certainly grown over time.  This is the only system that allows for group signups as well as individual signups, where the group can be identified by each diver or a generic entry.  Group leaders can dive or not dive, can handle the bill or allow for each diver in the group to pay for themselves.  And moving or copying a group from one dive to another is as easy as a single diver reservation.  And when you have to book a group, all of that makes a huge difference.

As Gary puts it, "Scubaocity may no longer be the only online reservation system, but it is the most robust and customizable solution."

Today, Gary and Brenda have sold Scubaocity to Lewis and Kim at EncomPos to carry on the torch and continue his vision.

Coming soon, the reservation system will have options to activate Live Pay (take payment immediately for a reservation), collect a secure token for later charging and refunding, or just take a reservation without any credit card information collected. Once done, it will be a seamless system for online reservations which will allow online payments through the same merchant account, transfer all of the online transactions to EncomPos for one blanket closeout for all systems while sharing credit card tokens across platforms.
